“No Ads but Lacks Collaboration Features.”

The best thing about Simplenote is that it does not have any advertisements. Even though I can exchange notes with other people, I do regret having more sophisticated collaboration tools like version history or comments.

Pros : The best part is that there are no ads that interrupt my workflow. It is just pure notetaking focus.

Cons : There are no collaboration tools beyond sharing. While I can share notes, there are not in-depth collaboration tools like comments or version history.

Switched from : ClickUp

Reason to switch : ClickUp had good, advanced project management tools, but Simplenotes clean ad-free experience and ease of use made it a better fit.

“Versatile Across Platforms but Lacks Export Options”

Simplenote works on almost any device, including iOS and Android. No matter what device I am using, I can easily retrieve my notes thanks to its great versatility.

Pros : I like how I can use Simplenote on almost any platform. I can use it in Android devices and iOS devices. I found it versatile.

Cons : It has limited export options. You must copy and paste the content in other platforms if you need to use them elsewhere.

Switched from : Coda

Reason to switch : Coda is a bit too complex for my needs and I wanted a simpler and cleaner looking solution.

“Great for Finding Notes but Lacks Advanced Organization”

The ease with which I can use Simplenote's search feature to locate notes is one of my favourite features. I do miss being able to make folders or subcategories in addition to tags for improved organizing.

Pros : The search function is quick and reliable. Finding specific notes is easy thanks to the search function. I have not lost track of anything that I have written.

Cons : The tags are cool but there is no way to create folders or sub-categories for further organization which I miss.

Switched from : Zoho Notebook

Reason to switch : Zoho Notebook felt too cluttered and Simplenotes plain design is exactly what I wanted.

“Great Free Option but Lacks File Attachments”

For me, Simplenote has been a great program, particularly considering that it is completely free. I am on a budget, so it is perfect that I do not have to worry about any premium versions or hidden costs. The inability to attach files or photographs to my notes is a drawback.

Pros : It is a free application which is a huge win for me since I am under budget. There is no need to worry about hidden fees or premium versions.

Cons : The downside is that there is no file attachment. It does not allow you to attach files or images.

Switched from : Bear

Reason to switch : Bear was too expensive with its premium version. I wanted something which was simple and free.

“Fast and Lightweight but Needs Internet Connection”

Simplenote's speed and portability are great. It does not slow down my device and downloads quickly, which is fantastic. The main drawback for me is that I need an internet connection to change my notes.

Pros : It is fast and lightweight. It is quick to download and does not slow my device down.

Cons : You cannot edit while being offline. I found out I cannot edit anything without an internet connection. It is a pain when I am on the go.

Reason to switch : I moved to Simplenotes since I wanted something faster and quicker.

“Excellent for Collaboration but Not for Long Notes”

Simplenote's collaboration features are great. Sharing notes with others is simple collaborative projects. However, while it works better for shorter notes, it can be a little challenging to handle lengthy and detailed ones.

Pros : Great collaboration features. I can share notes with others even when I am working on a project.

Cons : When I am working in long and detailed notes, it can get a little difficult since it is better suited for shorter notes.

Switched from : Google Workplace

Reason to switch : I was looking for something that was simpler and faster. Simplenote offered just that.

“Simple and Syncs Everywhere but Lacks Formatting Options”

I am always able to continue precisely where I left off, whether I am using my tablet, laptop, or phone. Rich text formatting is something I do miss. Although Markdown is useful, it prevents me from formatting my notes the way I want.

Pros : It syncs across devices even when I am on my phone, laptop, or tablet. I can pick up right where I left no matter what device I am using.

Cons : There is no Rich Text formatting, I miss being able to bold, italicize and change font styles to suit my style. The Markdown is cool but it is not for everyone.

Switched from : Microsoft OneNote

Reason to switch : I moved to Simplenote because OneNote felt too cluttered and heavy for my needs.

“Great for Markdown but Lacks Visual Customization”

I like Simplenote's support for Markdown, particularly when I wish to organize my notes more precisely. It is not the most aesthetically pleasing choice because it is heavily cantered on plain text.

Pros : It offers Markdown support. Sometimes when I want to get more advanced, Markdown support is great for formatting.

Cons : It is all about plain text here. It is not the most visual option if you like customizing.

Reason to switch : Simplenote’s simplicity and Markdown ability made it a better fit for my notetaking needs.

“Simple Note-Taking App”

I can concentrate on my notes without interruptions because to the simple, clean design. But it is a little too basic for me. It lacks features that would make it more helpful for task organization, such as to-do lists and reminders.

Pros : I found it to have a clean and minimalistic look. There is nothing fancy just focus on notes.

Cons : It is basic and lacks certain features. I wish it had to-do lists and reminder features.

Reason to switch : Simplenote offered what I wanted in an app which was to take quick notes without any extra clutter.
