“Perfect for Deep Organization and Fast Searching”

The search feature in Roam Research is amazing; it is the most accurate and quick I have found in any note-taking program. However, because Roam is made for more intricate organization, it can be too much for someone who is only seeking for an easy note-taking application.

Pros : The search functionality is the best I have used in a notetaking software. It is super quick, and I can filter results by tags, pages, or dates, making it easy to find exactly what I need.

Cons : If you only want to have a quick notetaking session, Roam can be an overkill. It is designed for deeper and advanced connections.

Reason to switch : Roams advanced features and search options really took my notetaking to the next level.

“New Way to Organize My Thoughts”

Compared to other tools I have tried, the ability to link notes together and quickly switch between them is far more natural. I just had trouble adjusting to the block-based structure at first.

Pros : Roam allows me to create connections between ideas effectively. I can jump from one note to another. It feels like the app is helping me build a web of knowledge.

Cons : It took some time to get used to Roam. It was a block-based structure which was new to me.

Switched from : Obsidian

Reason to switch : I wanted a more dynamic way to connect my thoughts. Roam’s links and graph view did that for me.

“Ideal for Zettelkasten Enthusiasts”

Roam Research has changed everything, particularly for those who use the Zettelkasten technique. Everything is kept organized via the linking mechanism. My only complaint is that it costs a little more than other solutions.

Pros : Prefect for people who are into Zettelkasten method. It keeps everything organized with its linking system.

Cons : The pricing is a bit steep ang not cheap. I do wish it were a little more affordable considering the alternatives.

Reason to switch : Roam’s structure was perfect fit for my Zettelkasten workflow, Anytype did not offer this.

“Visual and Interactive Way to Organize Thoughts”

I like the visual connections between everything; it is like a brain map. The drawback is that it can occasionally get slow, particularly when I have many notes and the graph is large.

Pros : The graph view is fun to use since I get like a visual map of everything in my mind. It is satisfying to see how everything is connected.

Cons : It can run slow at times, especially with a lot of pages or a huge graph. It is not the most responsive.

Reason to switch : I moved from Logseq since I needed something that gave me more dynamic visual representation of my notes.

“Simple and Effective but Misses Rich Text”

I hugely appreciate using Markdown in Roam Research. Sometimes I do miss having more formatting options for rich text. Roam keeps things simple, which is not usually what I require.

Pros : I like using the Markdown since it makes my notes simple to format. I do not need to complicate things with fancy formatting.

Cons : It lacks rich text formatting; I do miss it. Sometimes I want more control, but Roam likes to keep things minimalist.

Switched from : TiddlyWiki

Reason to switch : TiddlyWiki was okay but Roams use of Markdown and its focus on simplicity made it a great fit for me.

With its templates, Roam Research has proved useful, particularly for tasks like project planning or meeting notes. I do, however, miss being able to classify things using a conventional folder structure.

Pros : The templates are a lifesaver, especially for repetitive tasks. I can create templates for meeting notes or project planning.

Cons : While the lack of folders is freeing, I do miss being able to organize things into categories. It can get chaotic.

“Daily Journal That Helps Me Stay Organized”

It feels like a digital journal where I may write down anything. However, because there is no offline option, I have encountered issues when I do not have internet connectivity.

Pros : The daily notes are refreshing. It is like having a digital journal where I can dump my thoughts.

Cons : There is no offline mode, so when I am on the go without internet, it is not particularly useful. I have had to switch to other apps.

Reason to switch : I moved from Zettlr since I was looking for a tool that could support my daily writing and notetaking in a more dynamic way.
