“Accurate but Pricey”

The software scans a huge database and gives detailed, easy-to-read reports, which is great for catching even the tiniest overlaps. It is not the most affordable tool out there though.

Pros : iThenticate’s plagiarism detection is so accurate that it catches even the smallest overlaps.

Cons : The only drawback is the price. It is not cheap and if I am on a tight budget it feels like a luxury.

Reason to switch : I moved from Grammarly since it was great for grammar and basic checks but did not offer professional grade detection like iThenticate offers.

I particularly enjoy how iThenticate enables me to apply customizable filters. However, it does not check everything, like subscription-only content, so there is a tiny gap.

Pros : It enables be to apply customizable filters. I can exclude things like references or common phrases. It is helpful when I do not want unnecessary matches.

“Confident Results but Takes Time to Learn”

I like how iThenticate validates my work against a vast database of sources—it makes me feel incredibly confident about my results. However, it is not the easiest program to get started with.

Pros : It gives access to a huge database. It checks my work against a ton of sources. I feel confident about the results.

Cons : It requires a bit of a learning curve. It took me awhile to figure out all the features. It is not the most beginner friendly tool.

“Saves Time but Can Be Overwhelming”

I used to personally check everything of my work, but now it only takes a few minutes thanks to iThenticate. However, because the reports plagiarize even ordinary phrases and I must filter through everything, they can feel a little overwhelming.

Pros : It is time saving since I usually manually comb through all my work. iThenticate gets the job done in minutes.

Cons : I sometimes feel like they have report overload. It highlights too much like common phrases and I must sort through all of them.

Reason to switch : Proctorio was too focused on exam proctoring while iThenticate is great for quick and thorough checking.

“Perfect for Academics but Missing Grammar Tools”

iThenticate is great for academic work, checking my research papers. The only thing it is missing is a built-in grammar checker. It would be nice to have everything in the same place.

Pros : It is prefect for academic use. If I am drafting research papers, it is great since it checks against journals and publications.

Cons : It lacks grammar tools. It would’ve have been great if it had a built-in grammar checker.

“Convenient and Cloud Based but Extra Costs Add Up”

I like that iThenticate is cloud-based since it is incredibly handy to use anywhere without the need to install anything. However, there may be additional fees associated with reviewing different versions of a document.

Pros : I like that it is cloud based and I do not have to install anything, I can just use it anywhere.

Cons : Depending on the plan, you can not always check multiple versions of the document without the extra cost.

Reason to switch : I moved from DrillBit since iThenticate had better detailed reports that felt more professional and fir my needs better.

“Feels Like a Pro Tool but a Leap of Faith”

Using iThenticate makes me feel like I am working at the level of professional publishers and journals. The way it scans a massive database and delivers reports is impressive. That said, I wish there had been a free trial.

Pros : It makes me feel like I am a pro publisher since pro journals and publishers use it.

Cons : I wish that I could’ve at least evaluate it out before committing. It felt like a leap of faith buying it.

I do not have to worry about my work being stolen or exploited, I feel secure using iThenticate. It is a little too advanced and costly for someone who only wants to perform a fast plagiarism check.

Pros : It is secure and I do not have to worry about my work being stolen or misused.

Cons : Not the best for casual users. It is too expensive and advanced to just do a quick plagiarism check.

Reason to switch : I switched from Copyleaks since while it was good for basic checks iThenticate’s had higher level of security.

The thorough reports from iThenticate are great; they are simple to read and make identifying any problems simple. However, it may seem excessive if you are not working with professional or academic material.

Pros : It gives detailed reports. The reports are easy to read and spotting an issue is no problem.

Cons : If you just want to use it as a normal plagiarism checker and not for academic or professional stuff, it feels like an overkill.

Cons : It is only used for Plagiarism which makes it specialized. It also means that it does not offer broader writing help.

Reason to switch : Quillbot is great for paraphrasing but it could not match iThenticate’s credibility.
