“Stay on Top of Your Day”

My favourite feature is the daily jots tool, which makes it easy for me to plan my day and keep track of my activities. However, in comparison to other programs that release new features more regularly, the upgrades can seem a little slow.

Pros : I love the daily jots feature; it makes it easier to keep track of what I am doing. It also tracks my plans for the day.

Cons : The updates however can be slow. New features do not come as often as I want them to come when compared to other apps.

Reason to switch : TiddlyWiki did not provide a more structed way to manage my daily plans and tasks.

“Notes and Tasks in One Place”

Keep everything organized in one place, Amplenote is the perfect combination of a note app and a to-do list. However, the lack of a web clipping tool upsets me because it makes saving content from the internet quite difficult.

Pros : It is like having a to-do list and a note app baby with its in-built task management. It is perfect for keeping everything in one spot.

Cons : I did not like that they did not have a feature for web clipping. The lack of a web clipping tool makes it harder to save stuff from the internet.

Switched from : Zim

Reason to switch : Zim did not have a better built-in task management than Amplenote.

“Seamless Sync Across Devices”

The syncing between all my devices is the best. I do not miss anything crucial when I flip between my laptop and phone. It does have a specialized appeal, though; if you only require simple notetaking, it might not be worth the investment.

Pros : Everything syncs so smoothly and across all devices. I can hop from my phone to my laptop without missing anything important.

Cons : It has a very niche appeal. Amplenote is great for a specific type of user only. It might not feel worth it for someone needing basic notetaking.

Reason to switch : Cryptee did not have a better syncing and task management fit when it came to my workflow.

“Reminders That Actually Work”

For me, Amplenote's reminders are great since I can put them right in a note and it seems so natural. Though it functions, the mobile app is a little clumsy in comparison to the PC experience.

Pros : Finaly an app where the reminders work efficiently. I can set reminders directly within a note. This makes it feel natural.

Cons : My experience with the mobile version is not the best. While functional, the app is clunky compared to the desktop version.

Reason to switch : Amplenote’s built-in task reminders made managing my schedule better than Trilum Notes

“Handy Tool for Thought and Tasks”

I wanted to manage activities in one location and quickly capture thoughts, so I started using Amplenote. Things like the task score and a few other elements took me a while to understand.

Pros : I like that I can jot down thought with the Quick Capture feature. It feels faster and works well on the go.

Cons : It can be a bit confusing at first like the task score and some other features. These will take some time to learn.

Switched from : Logseq

Reason to switch : Logseq was good for outlining but I wanted something simpler and more focused on task management.

“Secure and Perfect for Personal Use”

I like Amplenote's end-to-end encryption since it allows me to rest easy knowing that my notes are safe. It is excellent for individual use, but it is less suitable for group tasks.

Pros : It has end-to-end encryption which makes me feel like my notes are secure. It puts privacy first which is rare these days.

Cons : There is lack of collaboration tools. I mostly use it for personal use but it is not ideal for working on shared projects.

Switched from : Todoist

Reason to switch : I moved from Todoist to Amplenote since I was searching for something that could manage both tasks and notes.

“Clean Design for Focused Work”

Amplenote has a simple, distraction-free UI; it is just what I need to maintain concentration. Its limited app integration is a drawback, which might be annoying when compared to competitors who are more adaptable.

Pros : The minimalist, simple and distraction free interface is perfect for my workflow. It is this clean design that I need for deep work.

Cons : It is not compatible with other apps unlike some of its competitors. This limited integration is a big letdown.

Switched from : Workflowy

Reason to switch : I moved from Workflowy because I needed a cleaner design that supported both notes and tasks.

“Dependable and Simple for On-the-Go Use”

I can use Amplenote offline and on the go without worrying about losing access, it is perfect for me. However, as simplicity is more important than visuals, this might not be the greatest option if you prefer mind maps or other highly visual tools.

Pros : I can use it on the go. I get stuff done without stressing that I am going to lose access.

Cons : It is not the most visual solution out there. If you like mind maps and highly visual interfaces, it is not for you.

Reason to switch : CherryTree was okay, but Amplenote was a more reliable fir to my workflow.

“Organized Notes with a Price Tag”

Nestled tags are a great way for Amplenote to keep my thoughts grouped. The lack of a free plan is a drawback; although the trial provided me a start, I should take the membership fee into account.

Pros : The nested tags are a notable feature is you want to keep your nots organized without feeling chaotic.

Cons : There is no free plan. The trial is okay but the ongoing costs can add up.

Switched from : Evernote

Reason to switch : Evernote was good, but Amplenote felt cleaner and more streamlined.

“Liberating but Takes Some Time to Get Used To”

The absence of folders in Roam Research felt a little odd at first, but when I adapted, I discovered that it was quite freeing. However, Roam may be a bit confusing for beginners, particularly those who are unfamiliar with knowledge management.

Pros : The lack of folders was strange at first, but I got used to it. I felt liberated and I can just create a page for everything and link it back to relevant notes.

Cons : For beginners, it is not the easiest to start. If you are new to notetaking or knowledge management, it can be complex at first.

Switched from : Typora

Reason to switch : Typora was good but it was not the perfect fit for me since it does not have the ability to link everything together in a dynamic way.
