“All-in-One Security with Few Annoyances”

I adore that ZoneAlarm is so convenient and simple to use because it integrates firewall and antivirus functionality into a single package. But the free version's constant advertisements can be annoying.

Pros : Its antivirus integration, how it combines antivirus and firewall capabilities into one package, which reduces the need for multiple tools.

Cons : The ads that frequently pop up in the free version gets annoying at some point, it feels forced.

Switched from : GlassWire

Reason to switch : I switched from GlassWire since it did not provide antivirus protection or a firewall.

“Amazing for Gaming but Lacks in Free Version”

I have been using ZoneAlarm's "Game Mode" since it makes sure I do not get any notifications while playing, which is useful. However, the free version lacked the comprehensive protection I wanted and was too basic.

Pros : When I am gaming, the “Game Mode” comes in useful and ensures that I am not interrupted by any notifications which I find to be extremely helpful.

Cons : I was using the free version and found out that it felt stripped down, which does not give me the comprehensive security that I would like.

Switched from : WatchGuard Network Security

Reason to switch : I moved from WatchGuard Network Security since I wanted a more user-friendly solution with features like “Game Mode” and better overall protection.

“Good Value with Some Software Conflicts”

Prior to subscribing to the subscription plan, I used ZoneAlarm's free version, which satisfied my needs and made the changeover simple. It can be a little bothersome, though, when it interferes with other programs on my computer.

Pros : I bought the paid/ premium version because there was a free version available, I got to try the free version and found that it met my requirements so I eventually got the paid plan.

Cons : I have noticed that sometimes ZoneAlarm conflicts with other software on my system, which is annoying.

Switched from : AVG Antivirus

Reason to switch : I moved from AVG since I was looking for a more comprehensive solution with better features and ZoneAlarms offered exactly that.

“Solid Protection but a Bit of a Slowpoke”

The firewall gives me a sense of security by blocking unauthorized access effectively. However, I noticed that it slows my computer down during the scans which is inconvenient.

Pros : I found out that ZoneAlarm has a strong firewall protection. I feel secure knowing that ZoneAlarm’s firewall blocks unauthorized access to my computer.

Cons : Occasionally I feel like it takes up quite a lot of resources usage and slows my computer down, especially during scans.

Switched from : Avast Antivirus

Reason to switch : I switched from Avast since I wanted stronger firewall protection and better control over network access.

“Can be Overprotective but Good Identity Protection”

The best feature I found was ZoneAlarm's identity theft protection since it allows me to shop and bank online with confidence. It can be too careful, though, and block valid files and programs that I then must manually enable, which irritates me.

Pros : The identity theft protection feature is nice and comforting. The built-in identity protection gives me peace of mind when shopping or banking online.

Cons : It blocks legitimate applications such as my files and programs that are obviously not a threat. I must manually fix them which is annoying.

Switched from : Sophos

Reason to switch : I moved from Sophos since I needed a stronger identity protection feature, which ZoneAlarm seemed to have.

“Lacks Customer Support but gives Good Privacy”

I appreciate that ZoneAlarm integrates with a VPN since it adds a degree of security to my internet browsing. But when I had a problem, I discovered that their customer service was unhelpful and delayed.

Pros : I have been searching for a solution that offers VPN integration. It feels good that I can bundle it with a VPN, this gives me an extra layer of privacy when browsing online.

Cons : The customer support however I feel like is an issue. When I had an issue and tried connecting with customer service, it was slow and not that helpful.

Switched from : Cisco

Reason to switch : Cisco was not a solution that included VPN protection, ZoneAlarm however provided that along with strong security features.

“Dependable but Lacks Multi-Device Protection”

ZoneAlarm's frequent updates give me peace of mind that my system is constantly safe from emerging dangers. However, since I need to secure multiple devices, I wish they offered multi-device plans.

Pros : I appreciate that ZoneAlarm is updated regularly, this makes me feel comfortable and confident knowing that my system is protected against new and potential threats.

Cons : There are no multi-device plans, I wish they offered more complete packages for protecting all my devices.

Reason to switch : I switched from SonicWall since I needed something easier to use with frequent updates.

“Easy to Use but Limited for Mac Users”

I like how easy and user-friendly ZoneAlarm's UI is. It is simple to use and does not make you feel lost in complex circumstances. As a Mac user, I regrettably find it disappointing that its Mac support is not as strong as its Windows support.

Pros : The interface is easy to use making it intuitive. I do not feel overwhelmed trying to go through the settings of the solution.

Cons : Being a primarily Mac user I found that ZoneAlarm does not offer secure support for Mac users like it does for Windows.

Switched from : Comodo Antivirus

Reason to switch : Comodo was complicated, and I was searching for a solution which is more user-friendly and less complicated.

“Customizable but Premium Features Come at a Cost”

ZoneAlarm’s security options are customizable, it is easy to adjust the settings to fit my requirements. Although, it is frustrating that many advanced features are available only in the paid version.

Pros : I like how the security options are customizable. I can tweak the features to suit my needs without any hassle.

Cons : One of the biggest drawbacks of the solution is that the advanced features are locked behind a paywall. To access the advanced features, I must upgrade to a premium version.

Switched from : Netgate

Reason to switch : I was searching for more flexibility in customizing my security settings which ZoneAlarm offers and Netgate did not

“Great Control but Tough to Uninstall”

ZoneAlarm's Zone-based Access Control lets me make distinct rules for trustworthy and untrusted networks, which makes them feel more secure, I love it. But when I had to restart my computer due to a security concern, I found it difficult to remove it entirely, which was annoying.

Pros : My favorite feature of ZoneAlarm is its Zone-based Access Control. It lets me create different access rules for trusted and untrusted networks.

Cons : I found it difficult when trying to completely remove ZoneAlarm when I wanted to fully reboot my computer for a security issue.

Switched from : FortiGate

Reason to switch : FortiGate did not have the flexibility with network access control and ZoneAlarm offered just the features that I was looking for.
