“Great for To-Do Lists but Needs a Modern Update”

I enjoy using ColorNote's checklist tool for creating to-do lists. The interface seems a little old, which is the only drawback. Although it does the job, it needs to use some modern design.

Pros : The check list feature is great, especially the to-do list. I can easily check off tasks as I finish them.

Cons : The interface is a bit outdated. It works but it could use a fresh look.

Reason to switch : Trillium Notes was not as straightforward and easy to use for managing my tasks.

“Secure and Simple but Missing Media Support”

The security that ColorNote offers is one of my favourite features. I feel secure knowing that I can password-protect my notes. It can be restricting, though, as it only allows words to be added to notes.

Pros : I like how secure it makes me feel. I can lock my notes with a password which is nice for keeping personal info safe.

Cons : It does not support rich media. You cannot add images or files into your notes, so it is just limited to text.

Switched from : Notability

Reason to switch : Notability is great but it felt too complex for what I needed.

“Quick Access with Widgets but Syncing Can be Spotty”

The ability to add a widget to my home screen for easy access to my notes and to-do lists is one of my favourite features of ColorNote. It can be annoying when my notes do not sync correctly.

Pros : I can add a ColorNote widget on my home screen for quick access to my notes and lists.

Cons : Syncing is great most of the time but occasional my notes do not sync properly.

Switched from : Microsoft OneNote

Reason to switch : ColorNotes simplicity and widget made it a much better fit for quick notetaking.

“Reliable Backup but Limited Cloud Editing”

The fact that ColorNote allows me to back up my notes to an SD card or Google Drive is helpful. But since I cannot change my notes directly in the cloud, my data can be stuck in the app if I misplace my smartphone.

Pros : It allows me to back up my notes to Google Drive or an SD card. I do not need to worry about losing anything important.

Cons : I could not edit my notes directly in the cloud which means if I lose my device, my data is stuck in the app.

Switched from : Obsidian

Reason to switch : I moved to ColorNote from Obsidian since I wanted a simpler and easier to use for quick notetaking.

“Good for Syncing but Lacks Folder Management”

I truly value how easily ColorNote syncs between my tablet and phone. It is convenient because it keeps my notes current wherever I am. I do wish there were a simpler method for classifying my notes into folders.

Pros : It syncs across all the devices effortlessly between my phone and tablet. This keeps me up to date no matter what device I am on.

Cons : There is no effortless way to organize notes into folders so everything gets jumbled together.

Reason to switch : ColorNote offered a more no-fuss experience with the bonus of syncing across devices.

“Simple and Effective but Missing Some Advanced Features”

I deeply appreciate ColorNote's user-friendliness. Making notes is quite easy, and I like the color-coding option for keeping things organized. However, I occasionally miss its limited advanced functions.

Pros : It is easy to use. I like how intuitive it is and I can create notes in seconds with no problem.

Cons : It is great for basic use; however, it does not have some advanced features that other note apps offer.

Reason to switch : ColorNote gave me the simplicity I needed without extra complexity.

“Great Offline Use but Lacks Collaboration”

I like how ColorNote is incredibly handy when I am on the go and do not always have internet access because it functions flawlessly offline. But I do miss the ability to collaborate with people and share notes.

Pros : Perfect for offline use. I do not need an internet connection to use it. I found it convenient when I am on the go.

Cons : There are no collaboration features. I cannot share notes with others.

Reason to switch : CherryTree had more features, but it has heavy for my needs. ColorNote gave me exactly what I wanted.

“Great for Organization but Lacks Text Formatting”

I hugely appreciate how ColorNote's color-coding tool keeps me organized. I miss being able to format text with bold or italics, which would help me organize and make some of my notes easier to read.

Pros : I like how I can colour code different notes. It helps me to organize and find what I need quickly.

Cons : There is no text formatting. It is basic when it comes to text options. I cannot bold or italicize anything which can be frustrating.

Reason to switch : I moved to ColorNote from Notesnook since I wanted a simpler and basic solution for my basic notetaking needs.

“Quick but Need Reminders”

I like how simple it is to look up old notes in ColorNote. I do wish there were a way to schedule reminders for specific notes, though. I could use it to keep track of items I need to remember or projects I need to do.

Pros : The search function is great. I find it easy to search for old notes using the search bar, even if I have tons saved.

Cons : I wish it had a set of reminders on individual notes. This is a bummer if you need a specific reminder.

Reason to switch : I moved to ColorNote from SimpleNote since I needed a more organized notetaking system.

“Free to Use but Ads Can Be Annoying”

The fact that ColorNote is free to use is great. The free version's advertisements can be a little bothersome when I am attempting to work fast and concentrate.

Pros : I like how it is free. I can use it without any hidden charges which is good when you are on a budget.

Cons : However, it has ads on the free version that can be annoying when I am trying to work quickly.

Switched from : GoodNotes

Reason to switch : ColorNote was a better fit since it offered a free version with decent features.
