If you want to restore a local backup that is not recent, you must do the following:
- Download a file manager app.
- Go to SD card/WhatsApp/Databases in File Manager app. If your data is not stored on the SD card, you may see internal storage or main storage instead of the SD card.
- Rename the backup file you want to restore from msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt12 to msgstore.db.crypt12. Previous backups may be in previous protocols such as crypt9 or crypt10. Do not change the number of crypt extension.
- Uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp.
- Click RESTORE when prompted.
