Ocado, British grocery technology firm opens its first customer fulfilment centre in Asia. The customer fulfilment centre is deployed in Chiba-city, Japan, on collaboration with Green Beans brand, by AEON NEXT for grocery business.
Tim Steiner, CEO, Ocado says that the Asian spending in groceries will outstrip other global regions in the upcoming years, and it remains the fastest channel in grocery in the APAC.
There are rumours about Amazon taking over the Ocado, and the firms have refused to comment on them.
The share prices of Ocado have fallen down extensively since 2020, after the pandemic improved the production of the delivery firms.
Steiner further added that the market is developing, and the ecommerce networks built with partners will cause a change in the standard of service. The firm has developed several technologies for the market related to ecommerce, which includes robots that can collect food orders online by travelling through a grid system in the warehouse.
These deliveries are planned out using an AI that have digital twins in every space.
