Microsoft Will Open its First Cloud-based Region in Italy for Digital Transformation

Microsoft has annouced the launch of its cloud centerin Italy that will provide companies easy access to resilient cloud services. It is also being set up for promoting digital transformation in Italy.

This cloud region will comprise of 3 datacenters available in the Lombardy region with the highest levels privacy, security, and performance. This cloud region would contribute to the digitization of all the public and private organizations present in this region.

The data center will become operational for companies that use Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.

This new cloud region comes under Ambizione Italia which is a $1.5 billion investment plan that was initiated in 2020 to develop growth opportunities via cloud technology. This was done for Italian businesses to modernize the public administration and improve the workers digital skills of employees.

This datacenter region will help in increasing economic growth and generating job opportunities to support digital innovation. This made help in generating revenue up to $135 billion and provide jobs to almost 237000 Italians. Therefore, it will account for 17.1% revenue growth in the upcoming years.

Valentino Valentini, Deputy Minister of enterprise, Italy, said on this cloud region, “The government’s goal is to create an ecosystem that increases the level of competitiveness, protects Made in Italy from counterfeiting phenomena, optimizing production processes, quality control as well as logistics and energy sustainability”.
