Government Releases a Draft NDTSP to enhance India’s Competitiveness in the World

The government has released a new draft NDTSP (National Deep Tech Startup Policy) that is a nine-point program and will create an ecosystem that is beneficial for the sector.

The draft has been released by the office of the government’s Principle Scientific Advisor. It will take comments from the people till September 15. A deep tech startup is one which has scientific or engineering advancements supporting early-stage technologies that are not yet developed for commercial applications.

This policy suggests crucial changes for nine policy areas like nurturing development, innovation, and research, building up IP (intellectual property) regime, facilitating funding, and enabling resource and infrastructure sharing.

Along with these, it will also promote changes in attracting human resources, ensuring program and policy interlinkages, creating fruitful regulations and certifications, and encouraging deep tech startups.

It was shaped by the National Consortium and Working Group set up by PM-STIAC (Prime Minister’s Science Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council. It has received input from nearly 200 stakeholders outside and within the deep tech startup environment.

“This policy complements and adds value to the existing Startup India policies, programmes and initiatives, by fostering a conducive ecosystem for deep tech startups to thrive and address their unique and complex challenges,” said an official statement.
