Government Introduces ‘DigiYatra’ at Airports for Quick Check-Ins

Recently, the DigiYatra facility has been introduced by the Indian Govt at 3 airports. Using this facility, travelers will be able to enter the airport with ease by simply using the facial recognition feature.

This facility has been introduced at Delhi’s IGI Airport, Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport, and Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi and will soon be available at other airports in the coming time.

On 1st Dec, DigiYatra has been launched by Jyotiraditya Scindia (Civil Aviation Minister) at Delhi’s airport. As per him, this will ensure that the passengers’ data is encrypted and completely secured.

At present, Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara are a part of DigiYatra. However, SpiceJet is also planning to join the list soon. Also, it is in the plan to extend this facility to all major national airports. Passengers can easily check in through this technology as DigiYatra also offers an app for iOS and Android.

To use this service, passengers will need to register their information on the DigiYatra app. Then they need to submit an Aadhaar-based verification and an image of themselves for this. After that, the boarding pass would be scanned, and the information would be sent to the airport before 24 hours of their flying time. Finally, the passenger can use facial recognition and the barcode on the boarding pass to check in at the airport gate.
