Rajesh Kumar who is in the Department of internal trade and Promotion of Industry said that the national policy for e-commerce will help to create a comprehensive ecosystem. This would include the complete development of the e-commerce sector and boost exports.
He further added, “The policy will put in place a streamlined regulatory framework for the ease of doing business, adoption of modern technologies, and the integration of supply chains”.
As per the estimation made, by 2025, exports cross-border will reach $2 trillion. As per the FTP, by 2030, India’s total potential e-commerce export will reach between the overall range of $200Bn & $300Bn.
Mr. Rajesh Singh continued to say, “The policy will address some of the issues concerning effective enforcement. It will clarify a lot of the issues. We are in the middle of inter-ministerial consultations”.
In 2018 & 2019, the e-commerce policy was proposed for the first time and a draft was released followed by this. Since then, the e-commerce sector has shown massive growth. FTP considers vehicles as a reason to boost exports and has come up with multiple provisions to ease down the rules against it.
