New Delhi: An AI based vascular imaging platform, Ultreon 1.0 Software, has been launched by Abbott. With the power of AI and optical coherence tomography (OCT), this software will provide a clear view of all the blockages and flow of blood within the coronary arteries. Additionally, it will also help them in distinguishing between the calcified and non-calcified blockage and also the blockage gravity.

Ultreon 1.0 will also help in enhancing coronary stenting procedures by guiding physicians on stent deployment, its expansion, and position. It leverages near-infrared light to capture the precise and high-definition images of blood vessels that will provide accurate information to physicians about their patient’s anatomy.

Tushar Sharma, General Manager of Abbott for South Asia and India said on this new software, “Increased adoption of OCT imaging, when combined with advanced technology like AI, allows cardiologists to have a more precise and measurable way of supporting patients undergoing coronary stent procedures. Ultreon 1.0 Software can potentially improve physician and patient experience by increasing accuracy of diagnosis and application of therapies. It takes the guesswork out of stent placement.”

According to Dr. Ankur Phatarpekar, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Symbiosis Specialty Hospital, Mumbai, Ultreon 1.0 will provide a complete view of coronary arteries to help physicians take better decisions for accurate stent placement.
