WhatsApp Introduces Several Interesting ‘Communities’ Features
WhatsApp’s long-awaited “Communities” feature became accessible today, as 3rd Nov was the planned launch date for the feature. According to Mark Zuckerberg, (CEO & Founder, WhatsApp), the tool will progressively become accessible to all users over the upcoming months.
The update basically adds Slack and Discord-similar capabilities, making it ideal for large groups, businesses, and other local communities. According to Mark, this feature will have functionalities including ’32-person’ video calls, in-chat polls, groups having a ‘1024 members’ limit, and call links using end-to-end encryption. It aims to offer a robust platform for all communication within a single app.
This Meta-owned messaging platform will give community admins the power to delete any member’s account from the community and delink groups from it. The admins can also delete offensive chats and content from the group. A wider range of control will be available to users as well, allowing them to choose who can add them to groups, leave communities, and leave a group without being noticed.
Meta ensures high level of privacy and security for every internal communication that happens across workplaces/organizations.
